going the distance so she can too

be a champion for girls in low-income communities

Going the Distance is our adult fundraising initiative for raising money to support subsidized programming for girls in low-income communities.

As part of Going the Distance, you can fundraise while you train for any running, cycling, triathlon, or hiking events. If you’re getting your body moving, move in support of Girls in Gear! Our team will be there every step of the way with customized fundraising support, training, and so much more.

Step 1

Decide how you’ll fundraise and set your goal

It only takes a few minutes to start fundraising! Once you’ve chosen your challenge, set your goal and create a personalized fundraising page that you can share with your friends and family. As a fundraiser, you’ll receive:

★ A personalized online fundraising page

★ Resources and one-on-one support

★ Branded Girls in Gear apparel

Step 2

Spread the word about your fundraiser and ask your friends to help you reach your goal

Once your fundraiser is set up, it’s time to tell everyone about it. Share your personal fundraising page with friends and family, post about it on social media, and share exciting milestones and stories with them along the way.

Step 3

Complete your challenge and start changing lives

More than 40% of the girls in our program receive financial assistance, bikes, and helmets. Once you’ve completed your challenge, the money you’ve raised will go directly towards ensuring these riders and more can continue to participate.

Every dollar counts

Every donation makes a difference in the lives of our riders. Whether your target is big or small, the money you raise will go directly towards helping girls stay active, build their confidence, and show up for themselves.
