THE DIFFERENCE YOUR SUPPORT MAKES

At Girls in Gear, we are continuously committed to creating safe spaces where all girls can be their truest, most authentic selves. To do so, we're proud to offer a no-questions-asked scholarship policy for all our programs, including bikes and helmets, so that everyone can ride with us.

We make our programs accessible to every family through no-questions-asked scholarships. Help us ensure that finances are never a barrier.

ACCESS FOR ALL

Volunteers are our heartbeat. Help us provide the safety training and curriculum guidance they need to lead with confidence.

POWERFUL MENTORS

A bike is more than gear - it’s a vehicle for resilience and joy. Help us eliminate the equipment barrier for every community we serve.

THE RIGHT TOOLS

GO THE DISTANCE SO SHE CAN TOO

Going the Distance is our adult fundraising initiative for raising money to support subsidized programming for girls in low-income communities.

As part of Going the Distance, you can fundraise while you train for any running, cycling, triathlon, or hiking events. If you’re getting your body moving, move in support of Girls in Gear! Our team will be there every step of the way with customized fundraising support, training, and so much more.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • Yes! Girls in Gear is a 501(c)3 tax-exempt organization, and your donation is tax-deductible within the guidelines of the U.S. law. To claim a donation as a deduction on your U.S. taxes, please keep your email donation receipt as your official record. We'll send it to you via email via our processing platform, Pinwheel, after you donate. If you need a physical copy or a receipt for an in-kind donation, email amy@girlsingear.org.

  • We occasionally accept individual bike donations, provided the drop-off is coordinated directly with your local Program Director. To ensure the safety and readiness of our fleet, donated bikes must be clean, in working condition, and show only minimal signs of wear. Please note that we are unable to accept road bikes, bikes with drop handlebars, beach cruisers, or any bike frame sized for a rider over 5'8" (typically a size medium or 17.5-inch frame). Additionally, due to safety and hygiene standards, we do not accept used helmets or riding accessories, such as gloves and jerseys.

  • Please make checks payable to Girls in Gear. You can mail them to PO Box 1159, Montclair, NJ 07042.

  • Absolutely. You can direct your support to a specific community by indicating your preferred team or location in the "Message to Fundraiser” field on our national donation platform. Additionally, you can donate directly through your regional program site, which ensures your contribution is immediately funneled into local site-specific costs like permits, equipment, and scholarships for riders in that area. For those interested in a larger commitment, such as Sponsoring a Site for an entire season, please reach out to amy@girlsingear.org so we can coordinate that partnership with the local program leadership.
