Beverly is the ultimate proof of those efforts. When she first started, Beverly could not be bothered to participate. And yet, three years later, she has participated in more Girls in Gear sessions than anyone else in the entire program. Beverly is full of life, joy, and exuberance. She was (self) promoted to junior coach last school year and uses her position to encourage other girls to try their best.
We hope Beverly - and so many girls like her - never lose their sparkle which is why we work so hard to get our program into communities that would not otherwise be able to afford it. Breaking down barriers of access to biking and all it affords takes girls further in life than they ever thought they would go.
PROGRAM COSTS
Beyond our no-question-asked scholarship policy, we are committed to keeping our registration fee low in order to ensure that everyone has a chance to ride with us. Your support will help support the program costs not covered by each registration fee.
Volunteer coaches
Coaches are the heartbeat of our program! Your donation will help support our enthusiastic volunteers and ensure they continue to have access to the best training, curricula, program supplies, and staff support.
program Gear
We collect used bikes from the community that then go to our bike shop partners. This way, we are providing a sustainable solution to scaling our program in a way that doesn't require constantly raising money for new bikes, utilizes the generosity of community partners, and finds homes for existing bikes.
